A ring-handled needle holder with tungsten carbide jaw inserts and a ratchet.
Use needles suited to the jaw size. Clean the joint and jaw serrations thoroughly and process with the ratchet open. Check that the jaws hold a needle firmly without rocking. Tungsten carbide inserts are hard but brittle, so avoid dropping the instrument.
