Potts-Smith scissors have small, angled blades on long shanks for opening and trimming vessels. The angle is chosen to suit the line of the vessel; the supercut edge gives a clean incision.
Design features
- Supercut grind: one blade has a very fine, keen edge for smooth, clean cuts
- Dark ring handles identify the supercut range on the instrument tray
- Blade angles 25°, 45° and 60°
- Long shanks, 19 cm
Typical applications
- Arteriotomy and vessel trimming
- Cardiovascular surgery
Care
Use scissors only on the tissue or material they are designed for; cutting sutures, wire or dressings with dissecting scissors dulls the edges. Process with the blades open and check the joint for smooth action.
